Car audio crossovers are a class of electronic filters designed for use in audio applications such as hi-fi. A dynamic loudspeaker driver that is commonly used is incapable of covering the entire audio spectrum all by itself.
Crossovers split the audio signal into separate frequency bands which can be handled by individual loudspeaker drivers optimized for those frequency bands. Let’s take a closer look at Kenwood’s KE-600 Crossover, KPX-F801 Crossover and Kenwood KPX-L101 Crossover.
Kenwood KE-600 Crossover
Kenwood KE-600, one of the most advanced signal processors, is a 6-Way electronic crossover with built-in parametric equalizer and a DC to DC power supply for high voltage outputs and low noise.
It has input selection, phase switching, variable level controls and the following outputs: subwoofer, low-pass, low-cut, high-cut and high-pass. It is a great component for multi-amp installations and is available for around $370.

Kenwood KPX-F801 Crossover

● Phase inverter switch for midrange and tweeter.
Kenwood KPX-L101 Crossover
Kenwood KPX-L101 Crossover is a low-pass passive crossover network. It is available for $50.
Features
● Special capacitor and inductor for audio purpose.
● 80Hz crossover.
Remember, an audio crossover splits the incoming audio signal into separate bands that do not overlap at all, and which, when added together, gives the signal unchanged in both frequency and phase response.

Panasonic created a winner in the point and shoot “zoom” category with the Lumix DMC-TZ5. Just about one year later, they have given us the Lumix DMC-ZS1 and the DMC-ZS3. (In the European market they are known as the TZ6 and TZ7 respectively. Am I alone in thinking that continuing the “TZ” brand would make more logical sense? And why is there no ZS2?)
This article will compare the Lumix ZS1 and ZS3.
Beginning with the basic specifications that are identical in both cameras:
- 10.1 Megapixels
- 12x Zoom Range (25-300mm)
- Optical Image Stabilization
- 80-6400 ISO Range
- 27 Scene Modes with Intelligent Auto
- Image Quality rated highest among Digital Compacts with similar features (DPReview.com)
The features that are different (ZS1
vs
ZS3):
- LCD – 2.7″ (230k resolution) vs 3.0″ (460k)
- Image Sensor – 1/2.5″ vs 1/2.33″
- Video – 848×480 30fps video w/mono sound vs 720p 60fps video w/stereo sound
These 3 features add just
over $100 to the price tag
for the ZS3. Yet, in spite of the extra $$$, the Lumix ZS3 is outselling its ZS1 cousin by a large margin. Why??
The reason is that most digital compact camera users are now quite comfortable with using their “point and shoot” camera for their basic video needs. And the difference in this feature is significant when you consider many folks are now viewing on big screen HD televisions.
The other big difference is the LCD screen. While 0.3″ does not seem that big of a deal, when added to double the pixel resolution (230,000 vs 460,000), the view quality of the live view and playback is significant.
With respect to image quality and printing images, in a comparison test against other super zoom cameras, the ZS1 and ZS3 were dual winners at DPReview.com.
The final word comes from those who have actually purchased the camera for personal use. After all, the consumer has the last word in satisfaction.
Checking the user reviews at DPReview.com and Amazon.com, both cameras rated highly – at least 4.16 out of 5. In fact, at Amazon, the Lumix ZS1 rated at an impressive 4.67 (out of 5).
As you make your digital camera buying decision, keep the Panasonic Lumix ZS1 and ZS3 in mind. And do not forget about the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5, which has the same features as the more expensive ZS3 with respect to video and image quality (there have been some upgrades to the way video is recorded in the ZS3 that take up less storage space and give the user an option as to the recording mode, but the TZ5 video is comparable to its newer sibling). Picking up the TZ5 would produce a savings of more than $150.

Ferruccio Lamborghini was a very successful business man who owned various businesses although his main line of business was building and selling tractors. Ferruccio’s philosophy was to work hard in the morning and enjoy himself in the afternoon. One day while racing his Ferrari with his close friend Enzo Ferrari he told him that he didn’t quite think that his car was good enough! Enzo took it the wrong way and replied “what would you know about building sports cars, you only know how to build tractors”? Ferruccio felt insulted and decided to build himself his own sports cars. At first everybody laughed at his big ideas. But in 1963 he opened his state of the art factory in Sant’ Agata in Bolognese about 25km from Bologna.
Ferruccio Lamborghini’s love of bulls was so strong that he would often visit Don Eduardo Miura who was the owner of a famous bull ranch in the region of Seville and who bred several species. It was this passion that led him to name several of his cars after various breeds of bull which were reared on this ranch. In 1966 at The Geneva Motor Show an early prototype car called the P400S received so much attention that it went in to production under a different name as the Miura a 4 litre car with 280 bhp which is named after a savage breed of Bull bred by Don Eduardo Miura himself, and several variations followed including the SV Concept, Roadster, SV, and the Jota A replacement for the Miura was to become the Islero 400GT and Islero 400GTS a 2+2 coupe which was built between 1968 and 1969 and was named after the bull that killed the famous matador Manolete in 1947.
The Espada which is the Spanish word for Sword appeared in 1968 at the Geneva motor show and was designed by Marcello Gandini of Bertone the famous car designer who designed several cars for Lamborghini Other cars which had names related to bull fighting were the Jalpa which made its debut at the Geneva Auto Show in 1981 and was named after a breed of bull. In 1990 Diablo was named after a famous bull fight in 1869 when the Duke of Veragua’s raging bull was in an epic battle with El Chicorro.
Some of the more modern supercars of this era include the Muircéilago who was named after the legendary bull in 1879 whose life was spared by Matador El Lagartijo for his amazing performance in the arena and who survived more than 28 strokes from the estoc at this point the matador decided to spare it its life which is very unusual in bull fighting. Gallardo was the name of one of five famous castles of the fighting bull breed, and in 1943 the Reventon was named after the famous bull that took the life of the Mexican torero Félix Guzmán, and finally the 2008 concept car called the Estoque which is named after the estoc or sword in English language which is used to kill the bull in contest.
Although there was one very special Lamborghini supercar which wasn’t connected to the name of any bull or bullfighting but could quite possibly be referred to as Madonna herself. This was of course the Countach, this came about when famous car designer Giuseppe Bertone first set eyes on the car. He was almost speechless except for one word which he managed to utter! This word was of course Countach which is often said as an act of astonishment and quite often used by Piedmontese men when they first set eyes on a beautiful woman.
